Bio

La Familia are a 6 piece Melbourne based band who perform authentic music from Cuba.

Formed under the guidance of esteemed percussionist Rodolfo Hechavarria Despaigne Panga, the band play the traditional rhythms of son, bolero and rumba with a repertoire of songs from Havana and Santiago de Cuba.

The front line up of Marina Novelli on Vocals and  Tres,  Rose Parlour on Vocals and Hand Percussion,  and Catherine McQuade on Vocals and Bass, gives an exciting range of lead vocalists;  the girls taking turns to front the band.

With 'Panga' featured on Bongos/Guiro/Cowbell and Craig Miller locking down the conga grooves, the band are irresistibly danceable even during the (rare) slower numbers.

The recent addition of Damien Maughan on trumpet has added both fire and romance to La Familia's sound.
